Here are some of my most important beliefs, what I strive to bring to my life and my work.
About Me
I am an adolescent counsellor, parent coach and family therapist. I believe in the value of learning healthy coping skills early in life. Children who are able to cope in healthy ways will be more resilient and manage stress better as adults.
As a mum to two children, aged 14 years and 15 years, I have been teaching these coping skills at home to my own children. I understand from first hand experience that it’s not always perfect. I strive for making progress, however small a step is.
By creating this website I hope to create a place where parents can get resources, be inspired and grow through knowledge and community. With this, we can teach our children how to become the best version of themselves and experience true self-esteem.
My first degree was a Bachelor of Music from the Conservatorium of Sydney. My later counselling studies included majors in Child Development, Effective Parenting, Conflict Resolution and Family Therapy.
I have been influenced by John Gottman’s work on Emotional Intelligence, the field of Positive Psychology and the pioneering work of Haim Ginott. As well as working in private practice, I am an accredited facilitator of Tuning into Kids, an emotion coaching program designed for parents to create better interpersonal relationships with their children. I also run children's workshops and private coaching for Resilience in Kids as well as facilitating their parent programs.
My passion is to inspire others not just to hang in there’ or ‘make it through’ but to flourish. My mission is to encourage and support the nurturing of happy, whole-hearted and resilient children.
